Black Forrest Croissant

Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 cup (245g) milk
  • 1 cup (230g) heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 (67g) cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup (113g) stick unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup (100g) dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup (85g) chocolate chunk
  • 6 croissants cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. Place croissant cubes in a baking dish.
  2. Add dried cherries and chocolate chunks in between croissants.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine egg yolks, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, sugar, and unsalted butter.
  4. Pour over croissant cubes, making sure they are all soaked.
  5. Cover with foil and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake (while still covered in foil) for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
  8. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
